George J. Rosa, Chairman of the Board of Hallmark Color Labs, Inc.,
Turners Falls, Massachusetts, has presented numerous seminars on studio
promotions throughout the United States and several foreign countries
Mr. Rosa is a graduate of Rochester Institute of technology and began
his career in television thirty years ago. He owned and operated a portrait/commercial
studio, which was very successful because of the innovative ideas he used
in his approach to promoting his business. Prior to establishing his photographic
studio in 1959, he served in the Signal Corps as the White House photographer
for President Eisenhower. He later worked as a lighting director for NBC.
In 1968, Mr. Rosa founded Hallmark Color Labs whose rapid and continuing
growth can be attributed to effective promotion that always differed from
that of his competitors. Today, Hallmark services more than 8,000 professional
photographers and provides a full service lab including black and white
and color.
In 1975, his concept that photographs are the end product of a "business"
came to life when he started the Hallmark Institute of Photography, a school
for aspiring professional photographers that teaches all phases of business
as well as photographic skills needed to operate a successful studio.
Mr. Rosa has served as President of the Studio Suppliers Association,
as President of the Photographic Suppliers Association, as President of
the Photographic Industry's Promotion Corporation, and as Chairman of the
Board of Governors of the Photographic Arts and Science Foundation. He was
awarded the Photographic Craftsman's Degree by the Professional Photographers
Association of America in 1979 and the National Award in 1982. Mr. Rosa
is the author of the popular selling ideas books, "The Three R's of
Photographic Promotion" and "Nothing Happens until the Sale is
Made", a thought provoking and stimulating book which highlights Mr.
Rosa's approach to success and basic philosophy.
