ATLANTA, GA--Professional Photographers of America (PPA) today announced plans for its first ever Women In Photography Retreat. The three-day program will celebrate the achievements of women in photography, while bringing top names from throughout the photographic industry together to discuss topics unique to them.
Frankly there is a lot that needs to be discussed. Women face special issues in sales, business and employee management. On the creative side, there is ample research that shows they think differently as well, says Ann Monteith, PPAs Vice-President and Treasurer. This retreat promises a unique opportunity for women to learn, grow and share in a relaxed atmosphere.
While the process of making great images crosses gender lines, there are many aspects of running a small business that create challenges and opportunities for women. The retreat will take a unique approach in addressing the concerns and successes of women in the photographic industry. Each of the last several years, we have tried to identify new ways to reach out and assist the photographic community, says PPA President Stephen Best. Women comprise such a large percentage of our industry. Creating a conference that addresses their needs makes sense.
The first womens conference will be held this Fall 2003. A star-studded cast of the industrys top female names is being assembled for the event. Details are still being completed and will be released shortly. This is going to be a special event, so we are booking a special place to hold it, says Monteith.
PPA, the worlds largest and most influential photographic and imaging trade organization exists to assist its more than 14,000 members by promoting business first, creativity foremost, and excellence always. For more information about PPA, visit www.ppa.com. .
