PPA Announces 2005 Convention Dates

ATLANTA—Professional Photographers of America has announced the official date and location of Imaging USA 2005. The association’s annual event is the largest convention and trade show for professional photographers and will be held January 16-18, 2005 in New Orleans, LA.

"This is a big schedule change for us," says PPA President Steve Best. "Moving our convention from the summer months to January will be a great benefit to the industry—photographers and vendors alike.”

Now slated as the first major industry event of the year, Imaging USA 2005 will continue to offer the same amount of fun, innovation, networking and education as PPA’s convention always has, but at a time when more industry professionals will be able to share in the excitement.

Research behind this decision included a survey of more than 8,500 professional photographers. Respondents overwhelmingly chose January as the most preferred month for attending such an event. They also indicated that this is the time of year when they are most interested in researching and purchasing the newest, most advanced equipment and services for the upcoming year.

"We have already made drastic improvements to Imaging USA in 2003, but we’re always looking for more ways to make it the most valuable event available to today’s photographer," says Best. "Holding our convention in January not only allows the greatest number of industry professionals to attend, but also provides a great way to kick off the New Year.”

PPA plans to keep with this schedule for Imaging USA in the years following 2005, as well. More information and registration materials for Imaging USA 2005 will be available soon at www.ppa.com in the Fall of 2004.
