Barbara Rice

Barbara Rice has had an extensive professional
photography career that has allowed her to work for studios in four states
over the past 27 years. Her formal photographic education is from Rhode
Island School of Photography and she has studied with the finest artists
and photographers in the field. In addition, she has been trained in both
black & white and color printing, negative retouching, print enhancement,
hand coloring, digital imaging and Photoshop. Her talent and creative style
is well recognized, and she was invited to photograph the wedding of President
Bill Clinton's brother-in-law at the White House in Washington, D.C. Barbara
has been featured in several newspapers, appeared on television, and her
photographs have been displayed at the Kodak Gallery in Rochester, New York.
Her sensitive portraits and weddings have won numerous awards in local,
state, national and international competitions. She holds the Master
of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional
Photographers of America as well as the designation Certified Professional
Photographer. In addition, she holds the Accolade of Lifetime Photographic
Excellence Degree from Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.
Barbara has received numerous First, Second and Third Place Awards in WPPI
print competitions and she had the highest scoring wedding print in the
entire 1998 WPPI Award of Excellence Competition - a score of 99! She
received the highest scoring portrait image in the 1996 Society of Northern
Ohio Professional Photographers (SONOPP) Annual Print Competition and received
the SONOPP Service Award Medallion for outstanding service to the
association. For her work as a photographic artist, Barbara received the
Photographic Art Specialists of Ohio (PASO) Fellowship Award Medallion
in 1997. She has received four Ohio Court of Honor Awards for her
wedding images at the Mid-East States Regional Print Competition and was
the SONOPP Photographer of the Year in 1998 and the Akron Society
of Professional Photographers Photographer of the Year runner up
in 1999. In 2000 and 2003, Barbara had the highest scoring wedding album
at the Mid-East States Print Competition. The albums each received the Fuji
Masterpiece Award and one was accepted into the PPA Loan Collection.
Barbara has been very active in photographic organizations
and is the Past President of SONOPP and PASO, as well as serving on the
Board of Directors of the Professional Photographers of Ohio. Barbara is
a popular lecturer who has presented programs across t United States and
Canada including PPA and WPPI National Conventions. Barbara's work has been
published in several books and magazines and she co-authored the book Infrared
Wedding Photography published by Amherst Media.
