Membership Information

 
  Section 1.
Requirements
 

A. The membership of the PPSO shall consist solely of individuals
who fulfill the qualifications of Section 2 and follow the
procedures listed in Section 3.

B. Members will be entitled to such services and privileges as
decided upon by the Board of Directors and/or the vote of the
active membership in any properly authorized meeting.

Section 2.

An applicant must meet the requirements of one of the following
Classifications:

 

  A. Active membership is extended to any individual engaged in any
photographic profession.. Applicants for active membership must
derive over 80% of their earned income from photography or
photographic oriented work.

B. Associate membership is extended to any employee of an active
member in good standing. Applicants for associate membership must
derive over 80% of their income from photography or photographic
oriented work. Associate members have no voting privilege.

C. Part Time Professional membership is extended to any individual
who is in the process of starting a photographic oriented business.
Part Time Professional members have no voting privileges and will
not be allowed to serve on the Board of Directors.

D. Student membership is extended to any individual attending a school
as a full time student majoring in photography. This membership will
be reviewed on an annual basis. Student members have no voting
privileges.

E. Industrial membership is extended to any individual who works
full time in the photographic industry other than as a photographer.
He/she will not be required to submit a portfolio.

  Section 3.
The procedure for reviewing new member applications is as follows:

  A. The applicant must be sponsored by one (1) member of the PPSO,
who is familiar with his work and sincerity.

B. The applicant must submit, to the primary sponsor, an official
membership application with the Code of Conduct signed by hand,
in ink, and the dues for one year.

C. The applicant shall be introduced to the membership at a regular
meeting by one of his/her sponsors, whereupon he shall tell, in his
own words, his background and goals in professional photography. The
applicant must also submit at least ten (10) samples of his work for
reviewing by the active membership as well as the Board of Directors

D. The names of all applicants for membership submitted to a regular
meeting of the Board of Directors will be published in
the succeeding issue of the offficial publication of the PPSO. Any
member having concerns about the applicant should make said concerns
known to a board member before the next regular meeting.

E. If no objections are raised by the membership, the application will
be voted on at the next Board of Directors meeting. The primary
sponsor of the applicant, at the board's discretion, may be required
to attend the meeting of the Board of Directors that considers
approval of the application.
   Section 4.
Final approval of any application for membership is vested in the
Board of Directors of this association
   A. The membership chairman shall furnish all new members with the
following materials:
  1. Letter of Congratulations
2. Membership Certificate
3. Membership Card
4. Membership Badge
5. Roster and Constitution
